| HP has recently released an update for the HP iPAQ HX4700. This update fixes a potential audio problem that could cause damage to the device. Some call this a very important update and I agree because I was reading about some speaker problems with the HX4700 and this update should help avoid the problems, if not solve them completely. The fixes included in this update are as follows:
- Fixes issue with the potential for speaker damage from third-party audio applications that generate a very high-volume audio signal.
- Fixes issue where the Microphone Automatic Gain Control (AGC) setting was not saved after a power cycle.

The update requires Active Sync 3.7, but I recommend getting the latest Active Sync 3.8 to stay up to date if you have a version older than 3.7. When I am able to apply this update, I will add information about how well it went and what I thought. Download size is only about 2.7mb and it should be a quick, easy update.
Addition: Installation is very simple and quick. A soft reset is not even required after the installation but it is strange how it warns the user that it may not fully take advantage of the VGA capabilities, just as most titles use. Either HP hasn't begun writing software in the new VGA format or this program is older, not that this is any problem, it is just strange. I have not noticed any change after installation but if I find some, I will be sure to post it here. Download this Update |
